What is Software Review Platforms?

Software review platforms are like the Yelp of the tech world.

They’re where businesses go to get the lowdown on software from real users (verified by the review sites).

Over the past 10 years or so, users have written millions of software reviews on these sites, which has led to these review sites dominating the search results for searches with commercial intent, i.e. someone looking to buy something.

While this peer-created content has helped improve the buying process, it’s worth noting that buyers are increasingly skeptical about the authenticity of these reviews. This is caused by what’s generally seen as an excess of vendor influence—ironically, the very thing that these review sites set out to change when they challenged the software analysts who had the most influence on what buyers thought about a software product.

Nevertheless, millions of software buyers visit software review sites annually, making them an essential part of many software buying processes.

Think of them as the “word-of-mouth” for the digital age.

For software buyers, everyone from IT decision-makers to individual contributors who are part of a software bind decision can often do breed review reviews on software review sites. Basically, anyone who’s in the market for software and wants to make an informed choice.

For software sellers, customer marketers often own the product profile and manage the reviews on software review sites. other teams that can own this are product marketing,  growth marketing, startup founders, and analyst relations at big companies.
