Based on my 2 years of experience as an admin and user of Metadata, here’s how I would rate certain areas:

  • Ease of use: 3.9 out of 5. Metadata is a robust tool that’s best suited to paid ad experts at large companies who can dedicate lots of time on it. I found the demo of Metadata really impressive because of all that it could do, but as a customer, we found it hard to replicate some of what was demonstrated.
  • Customer Support: 4.7 out of 5. Our two Metadata CSMs are lovely and always willing to help. While their knowledge of paid ads was a more from B2C to B2B, they still managed to provide helpful recommendations (though it’d be prudent to question them yourself to determine if it makes sense for your business.)
  • Features: 4.2 out of 5. Metadata offers many features, especially with ad reporting. In my opinion, the best feature if meta match, which enables you to have B2B-level targeting on B2C social channels like Meta and Instagram.
  • Value for money: 4 out of 5. In my opinion, the full Metadata platform is expensive and I would only give it 3.5 of out 5 for value for money. I found it was difficult to justify the overhead cost of an ad platform that was >10% of our ad spend while we struggled to optimize our ads for the right results (struggled to get past optimizing for low-cost but low-quality leads that didn’t convert well.) However, I would give their Meta Match standalone solution a 4.5 of out 5 for value for money because you get their best feature for less than 1/5th of the full platform fee.
